THE Philippine men's basketball team dropped its second straight game in the 24th Dubai International Basketball Tournament, this time to a more experienced Sporting Aramex squad, 75-65, early Tuesday morning (Manila time) at the Al-Ahli Gym in Dubai.
Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes said the national team, made up mostly of young collegiate stars, just could not overcome the Jordanian squad's imports in Darrin Dorsey and former PBA import Alpha Bangura.
"Tried hard, but Dorsey and Bangura just too good, too experienced for our kids. But we fought till d end," the veteran mentor tweeted.
With the loss, the Gilas dribblers finished the classification round with a 1-2 win-loss slate. They face Beirut-based team Sagesse in crossover quarterfinals.
