GILAS head coach Chot Reyes was not necessarily pleased even after his wards showed great resolve in a come-from-behind win, 113-112, over NLEX in their first tune-up game.

But with the Jones Cup less than two weeks away, Reyes knows that little mistakes can be something to live with especially for a young group still learning to play together over just a short period of time in training.

"We have no choice. We have to be very patient with this team because they're tossed in a very difficult situation," Reyes said.

"Being asked to play in a very high level of tournament with barely two weeks of practice together, it's no joke," he added.

"Everything else, they miss shots, turn the ball over, they miss defensive assignments, we can
    live with that."

Though they showed great grit against a grizzled Road Warriors side, Reyes knows that they still have a long way to go, especially when it comes to building character for the team.

"This is not a character win. A team's character doesn't develop overnight. It's something that you build,” said Reyes.
