GILAS Pilipinas simply had no answer to Ukraine’s strong inside-outside game on Monday, dropping a 64-114 setback to close out its campaign in the 2014 Antibes Basketball Tournament without a victory at the Azur Arena in Antibes, France.

Gilas coach Chot Reyes rested new naturalized slotman Andray Blatche (ankle sprain) and combo guard Paul Lee (hip injury) since the Filipinos were playing their third game in three nights, and what remained of his lineup couldn't keep up with a Ukraine side that made 19 three-pointers.

Without the 6-foot-11 Blatche to contend with in the lane, Ukraine also pounded Gilas inside as it turned the game into a rout from the second quarter on.

“Ukraine was just too big and sharp for us today,” Gilas team manager Aboy Castro quoted coach Chot Reyes as saying after the national team's 0-3 campaign in the four-nation pocket tournament, less than two weeks before the Fiba World Cup.

Gilas opened the tournament on Friday with a close 68-75 decision to host France, but its form has slipped from there. The national side was clobbered by Australia, 97-75, on Saturday before the 50-point loss against a side handled by longtime NBA coach Mike Fratello.

Reyes posted a cryptic tweet after the loss, saying, "We needed that."
