GERMY Mahinay looks for a new lease on life in basketball in applying for the PBA Draft after his controversial exit from the MPBL.
Mahinay was embroiled in a controversy last April when he was suspended indefinitely and made to pay PHP 100, 000 by the MPBL for a dangerous foul against Joey Barcuma of Zamboanga.

The former National U and University of Santo Tomas player on Wednesday expressed remorse regarding the incident when interviewed by reporters during the PBA Draft Combine, adding that what happened was not a true reflection of his character.
“Actually, sobrang frustrated ako that time.
The 6-foot-4 bruiser said he is not exactly out to redeem himself in the PBA Draft. Instead, he's attempting to make his dream of making it to the top level of basketball in the Philippines come true.
“Wala naman akong plano to redeem (myself). Pumunta ako dito, ina-achieve ko ‘tong goal na ‘to para sa sarili ko kasi eto ‘yung isa sa mga malaking pangarap ko sa sarili ko,” he said.
In fact, Mahinay is pushing through with all of this even though he only had a short time to prepare his body for the PBA Draft, as he was taking care of his mother in a hospital in Baguio.
As such, she serves as one of his inspirations in this bid.
One week or two weeks lang ako nag-prepare para sa sarili ko," he said.
The 26-year-old assured PBA teams he will bring his best effort to every practice and games if he is given a chance by one of them.
