GERMY Mahinay has applied for the PBA Season 49 Draft following his suspension from the MPBL last April.

Mahinay is one of the 70 players who declared for the draft on July 14, two months after he got involved in a controversial incident on the court when he was playing for Negros Muscavados.

Last April, Mahinay was suspended indefinitely and fined PHP 100, 000 when he undercut Zamboanga’s Joey Barcuma, who fell down hard on the floor in their game held in Binan.

The video of the play later became viral, and to this day, the MPBL has not lifted Mahinay’s suspension.

As such, the PBA Draft is a second chance at basketball for Mahinay.

Before his suspension, the 6-foot-6 bruiser showed decent numbers in rebounding for Negros, averaging seven a game in four games including two matches were he grabbed 10 or more.

Mahinay played for University of Santo Tomas and National U in college before joining the MPBL where he played for Quezon Province and Zamboanga in 2023.
