BLACKWATER finally came to terms with returning import George King to somehow soften the blow of losing big man Troy Rosario to the unrestricted free agency.

The Bossing held a zoom meeting with the prolific import on Wednesday just before management sat down with the team coaching staff under Jeff Cariaso.

Team owner Dioceldo Sy confirmed King already signed the offer made by the franchise this week, amid interest in the former NBA player from other leagues.

King’s signing came like a breath of fresh air for a Blackwater side that has been left shaken by the decision of the 32-year-old Rosario not to accept the team’s new contract offer and instead opt for unrestricted free agency.

Sy said he already talked to Cariaso on how to compensate for the loss of Rosario which obviously has a huge effect on the Blackwater ceiling.

But he’s more excited to talk about the return of King, who is actually undersized at 6-foot-6 in a tournament where teams can sign imports without any height restriction.

The former Phoenix Suns player of course, turned the campaign of the Bossing around in the Governors Cup, which saw them come close to making the playoffs despite a slow start to their campaign.

The 30-year-old King averaged 40.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in his first-ever stint in the Asia’s pioneering pro league, where he also dropped a franchise-best 64 points in his final game with the team - a 139-118 win over San Miguel.

“I’m super grateful for getting me back. I’m gonna finish the unfinished business,” Sy quoted King as saying during their zoom meeting.

The former Philippine Basketball League chairman added he’s planning to bring in King by end of this month in time for the finals of the season-opening conference.

“He might be able to catch the finals. I will bring him to the games so he can have a feel for the championship,” said Sy.
