RAIN or Shine simply fell in love with its three-point shooting.
Unfortunately, it abandoned the team at the most crucial time.
Coach Caloy Garcia lamented how the Elasto Painters shot one too many three-point attempts in Game 5 of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals against Magnolia which they lost, 82-74, on Wednesday night at the Astrodome.
"We took too much three-point shots in the endgame," said Garcia. "I told them Magnolia was in penalty so dapat inatake ninyo."
The Elasto Painters shot better from downtown against the Hotshots, converting 12-of-41 for a 29 percent shooting clip.
But James Yap, Ed Daquioag, and Gabe Norwood took hurried three-pointers down the stretch when Rain or Shine didn't need to.
"I think we settled too much on the three-point shot in the end," Garcia pointed out.
The end result had the team losing three straight in a row and falling on the verge of calling it a conference.
But all is not lost yet, according to Garcia.
"I still remained positive," said the Rain or Shine coach, noting his team won the first two games of the series.
