TRUTH be told, Gani Lawal has been playing hurt for the past five games in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo shared that the Nigerian American import has been nursing a hamstring injury as early as May 24 in the Bolts' 101-92 win over Columbian Dyip.
"He's been playing with a strained hamstring since our second game and he hasn't been playing 100-percent healthy," he told SPIN.ph on Friday.
Lawal has been averaging 28.5 points and 22.0 rebounds for the first six games for the Bolts, leading the crew to an even 3-3 slate.
But the pain, it turns out, is no longer bearable for Lawal as Meralco opted to put him in the injury/reserve list and sign up Jimmie Taylor for its Saturday game against TNT.
Trillo said that the team is still keeping its fingers crossed that Lawal will be able to return to the squad, but as of now, there's still no timetable when he can get back on the court.
"We're still not sure. We'll see," the amiable executive said.
