IT’S not just Ginebra veteran Mark Caguioa who’s moving a step closer to a personal PBA milestone.

Two stars from the opposite side of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals are also closing in on individual achievements, according to trivia compiled by PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III.

San Miguel Beer stars June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot are set to take the spotlight while helping the Beermen defend their crown in the midseason tournament.

Fajardo’s 22 points in Game Three moved him just 14 points shy of joining the 5,000-point club, just the 90th player, 86th local, 21st active player, and 12th SMB player to achieve the scoring feat.

As if that’s not enough personal glory, the Cebuano slotman can clinch the milestone on Friday, the same night he’s also poised to grab his record-cementing seventh Best Player of the Conference award that, in the process, would gain him the inside track on a record fifth MVP at the end of the season.

Cabagnot. On the other hand, collected three steals in the 132-94 rout, moving him just 15 away from joining the Top 10 list.

Once he becomes a member of the top pickpockets in league history, the SMB star playmaker will also become the first player in league history to be part of Top 10 in assists, steals, and knock down at least 800 three-pointers.

The Beermen also notched a team milestone on Wednesday night.

SMB became the first team in almost three decades to score at least 132 in two straight finals games in regulation, duplicating the feat done by Ginebra precursor Añejo Rum in Games Two and Three of the 1990 First Conference title series against Shell, which split the two games.

The last club to score at least the same output with the same parameters, but winning both games as also SMB in Games One and Two of the 1989 Reinforced Conference championship vs Añejo Rum on the way to capturing the franchise’s first Grand Slam.
