BONG Galanza has returned to the PBA by way of NLEX after playing for the Batangas Athletics in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
He intends to stay there.
Drafted in the fourth round by GlobalPort in 2015, Galanza also played for the Columbian franchise for two years but hardly made his presence felt, drifting to the MPBL when the PBA opportunities dried up.
The former University of the East cager, played well enough for the Athletics during his MPBL stop to catch the attention of Bataan Risers coach Jojo Lastimosa, who happens to be an assistant coach of Yeng Guiao at NLEX.
Signed by NLEX, the 25-year-old Galanza has played in all 10 games of the team in the Governors’ Cup, averaging 7.1 points on 41 percent shooting from the field.
Galanza, the second player from the MPBL who made it to NLEX after Philip Paniamogan, said his MPBL stint has given him the confidence to play at a higher level upon his return to the big league.
He was also pleasantly surprised that Guiao is really a nice guy.
Sobrang bait pala niya.”
Galanza has played well enough to earn a place in Guiao’s regular rotation and he intends to stay there by working hard.
