GABE Norwood has signed a new deal with Rain or Shine, but no longer just as a player.
The Elasto Painters on Thursday announced that Norwood has inked a one-year contract to become the PBA ballclub's playing assistant coach.

The 39-year-old Norwood will now have a dual role with the team for his 16th season in the league.
The former Gilas Pilipinas mainstay is one of two holdovers from the last Rain or Shine championship team in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup, with Beau Belga being the other one.
Following their loss to San Miguel in the Philippine Cup semifinals, Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao mentioned the importance of Norwood to the team and its young core.
“We have to keep Gabe and keep Beau so that they can keep on also helping us mold the team. Sila ‘yung mga veteran leaders namin,” said Norwood.

The former George Mason University star isn’t the only PBA player who has taken the dual role.
Starting last year, Chris Ross assumed the role of the playing assistant coach for San Miguel during his 14th season in the league.
