IT was a rare moment when the usually calm Gabe Norwood lost his temper inside the playing court. And it took a guy like Calvin Abueva for the Rain or Shine wingman to let out the beast in him.

Some color between the two Gilas Pilipinas teammates developed late in Game Five of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals Sunday night when Abueva bumped Norwood with his elbow after the Alaska star scored inside and hiked the Aces’ lead to 84-76.

Abueva flexed both arms and yelled out loud following the basket, eventually hitting Norwood as the Rain or Shine veteran was about to go downcourt.

Norwood obviously didn’t like what ‘The Beast’ did to him and immediately gave Abueva a piece of his mind.

“I tend to hold my game once in a while, but I just had to let him know the series isn’t over,” said Norwood, when asked what he was telling to Abueva during the incident.

Dondon Hontiveros quickly pulled Abueva away from Norwood as the Rain or Shine stalwart began talking to the newly-minted Best Player of the Conference.

And what was Abueva’s reply to him?

“Nothing, he’s still yelling,” said Norwood, who managed to flash a smile recalling the incident. “I don’t know if he heard me.”

But having known Abueva during their time with the national team, Norwood, who is often called 'Mr President' because of his striking resemblance to US President Barack Obama, said it was Calvin just being Calvin.

“He’s just competing. Calvin is emotional,” he said. “He played great, he came out with 20 points and 13 rebounds. It would be a lot of me just being bitter.”

Behind Abueva’s double-double, the Aces won for the second straight game, 86-78, to get back in the title series and cut Rain or Shine’s lead, 3-2. Game Six is set Wednesday.

But before Abueva starts celebrating, Norwood reminded everyone the Elasto Painters remain in control.

“They haven’t won anything yet,” he said.
