GLOBALPORT coach Pido Jarencio made no effort to sugar coat his words as he laid down one by one thei team's shortcomings in an 84-109 loss to Alaska in Game Four of their PBA Philippine Cup playoff at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
“Yun lang, we we're outhustled, walang energy," Jarencio told a handful of sportswriters after the Batang Pier were dealt an emphatic 84-109 defeat by the Aces who now lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1.
When asked what went wrong, the former University of Santo Tomas coach said the Batang Pier may have given extra effort in the game but effort isn't enough.
"Lahat, lahat, hindi pwedeng extra (effort) lang kasi playoffs na 'to eh," hesaid. "Dito, hindi ka pwedeng mapagod, hindi ka pwedeng bumagal, you can't stop. Dapat nakiki-compete ka, hindi pwede 'yung magre-relax ka."
Jarencio and his staff spent almost 10 minutes in the vacant dugout for a coaches' meeting before he spoke to his wards, eager to see his team regroup in time for do-or-die Game Five on Tuesday.
“Tignan natin syempre bagsak ang morale. Tignan natin baka mabuhay natin, tutal kailangan pa nila manalo ng isa bago pumasok (ng Finals). We'll do our best (at) kaming mga coaches," said Jarencio.
