“ANG lalambot niyo, para kayong mamon!”
These were the words uttered by an angry Yeng Guiao moments after the Rain or Shine Elastopainters suffered another disappointing loss at the hands of the Alaska Aces, 79-94, on Wednesday evening.
The Elastopainters were coming off a 84-99 debacle on Friday against Petron and hit a new low in a lackluster performance against the Aces, leaving their coach both frustrated and perplexed.
“Napagalitan ko talaga sila. Hindi ako happy with our intensity. Hindi ako masaya with our inconsistency. Masyado kaming off,” Guiao said. “We’ve had off nights before. Ayos lang sa akin 'yun dahil tao lang kami, pero hindi ganun na sunod-sunod.”
The fiery mentor admitted he has no answers right now as the team known as one of the most physical in the pro league has suddenly turned into a powder puff after a hot 2-0 start to the conference.
“We’re trying to examine ourselves kung ano ang mali sa amin. Pero ako I admit, wala akong sagot sa tanong na yun,” said the congressman representing the first district of Pampanga.
Guiao, however, is not yet pressing the panic button.
“We’re still 2-2. Maganda pa rin ang record namin. Right now, we just have to address our woes,” said the multi-titled mentor while waiting for his Gilas Pilipinas veterans to get back into top shape.
“Hindi pa rin pumuputok yung tatlong Gilas namin," he said of Jeff Chan, Gabe Norwood, and Beau Belga. "I am hoping puputok na sila. Tapos ayun, nawala pa si Paul (Lee) because of a sprain.”
Meanwhile, Belga told Spin.ph he has urged his teammates to forget about the past and focus on the games at hand beginning with a Saturday face-off against the Air21 Express.
“Nawawalan kasi kami ng kumpiyansa. Hindi pumapasok mga tira namin kaya pati energy namin sa laro nawala,” said Belga. “Kaya sabi ko sa kanila tulong-tulong na tayo.
“Kailangan lang naman naming maibalik ang tiwala namin sa isa’t isa, makawala sa shooting slump … Kapag na-solve yun sigurado okay na kami ulit. Kilala ko mga teammate ko,” added the 260-lb. Gubat, Sorsorgon native.
