FRAN Yu and Damie Cuntapay are part of the plans of the NorthPort franchise's new owners.
The two third-year pros were signed to contract extensions by the Batang Pier, whose sale to Pureblends Corp. is only awaiting approval from the PBA board.
Both Cuntapay and Yu signed one-year contracts and were represented during the negotiations by popular players’ agent Danny Espiritu.

Proof that the signings have the approval of Pureblends is the presence of Aldriane Anglim, who is set to assume the position of team manager in the new team.
Yu and Cuntapay were integral pieces of the Batang Pier unit that reached the semifinals of the mid-season Commissioner's Cup, where the top-seeded team eventually lost to the Barangay Ginebra Kings.

The two players belonged to the same Draft Class of Season 48, and both were late round picks.
Yu, the former Letran playmaker, was taken in at 40th overall in the fourth round by NorthPort, while Cuntapay, the big man out of San Beda, was taken seven spots later in the fifth round by Terrafirma, which didn't give him a tender offer, paving the way for the Batang Pier to pick him as a rookie free agent.
The signing of the two meant the incoming buyer of Northport will assume their respective contracts along with those of Joshua Munzon, Calvin Abueva, Jio Jalalon, and newly-acquired Jeo Ambohot as well as the signing rights on Cade Flores, James Kwekuteye, Jerrick Balanza, Sidney Onwubere, and Avan Nava.
