AFTER losing badly in its last outing in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, more bad news is coming the way of Talk `N Text.

On Tuesday, the franchise, through coach Norman Black, confirmed that former league MVP Kelly Williams will be taking an indefinite leave of absence to take a much-needed rest owing to a previous ailment.

“Kelly is taking an indefinite leave of absence as advised by the doctors. Kelly has always struggled with his ailment for the last four years because he has to take medications that has side effects,” Black told Spin.ph before the team's practice at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center inside the Ateneo campus.

Black explained the medication is a form of steroids, which tends to affect the high-flying power forward every now and then.

“He has good days and he has bad days. But lately, the days have been not so good. So it's indefinite, we don't know when he'll be back,” added the Talk `N Text coach.

A product of Oakland University, Williams sat out for four months during the 2009 season while still playing for Sta. Lucia after being diagnosed with an immune thrombocytopenia purpura, a disease that causes a drop in his platelets, the tiny particles in the human blood system.

As Talk `N Text’s main defensive weapon in the mid-season conference featuring imports of unlimited height, Williams is averaging career-lows of four points and 4.7 rebounds in 24.3 minutes of play.

Black explained Williams’ loss is huge considering the energy and hustle he brings to the Tropang Texters, who are coming off a 31-point blowout loss at the hands of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in their last outing.
