FORMER Globalport import Justin Williams said he feels sorry for Walter Sharpe, the man who took his place but lasted just two games with the PBA ballclub after a picture of him passing out drunk in a parking lot went viral.
“That’s not a good situation to be in out here," said Williams of Sharpe, who has since been axed by the Batang Pier.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t find that (picture) funny, because I heard he has that type of condition (sleeping disorder narcolepsy). So I felt bad for him," he added.
Williams said he also hopes that Sharpe can hurdle this new challenge in his career.
Williams, however, said that professional players - especially those plying their trade in a foreign land - should be more careful and responsible with their actions, on and off the court.
“Just watch where he is. Be more responsible, watch what he does out here because there’s a lot of cameras flashing. Just be more careful,” said Williams.
Now playing for the San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League, Williams said he wishes Globalport well amid a clamor to bring him back.
“I miss my teammates definitely, but I hope they get it together, I don’t wish them a bad season. I actually hope they turn it around,” he said.
