A FORMER Barangay Ginebra import prospect is now being considered by Talk `N Text as likely replacement of Donelle Harvey.
Video tapes of NBA veteran Ike Diogu are now being reviewed by officials of the telecommunication franchise in the hope of getting the services of the player by the time the Tropang Texters and the Kings clash this Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Kings briefly toyed with the idea of tapping Diogu at a time when they were looking for a replacement for original choice Herbert Hill, although the former member of the Nigerian national team was not available at the time.
Diogu is fresh from a successful tour of duty with the Chinese Basketball Association where he suited up for the Guangdong Southern Tigers whom he steered to a 4-0 sweep of the Shandong Flaming Bulls in the 2013 Finals.
Well-known import agent Sheryl Reyes bared she is now burning the lines with her foreign counterparts to facilitate the acquisition of the 29-year-old Diogu in lieu of another of her talents in Harvey.
The Talk `N Text import had to cut short his second tour of duty with the team after returning to the US following a freak road accident suffered by his family.
Aside from Diogu, who had a seven-year stint in the NBA playing for six different teams including the San Antonio Spurs last year, Reyes said she is also eyeing Chris Daniels as another prospect for Talk `N Text.
Daniels should not be confused with the player of the same name who played for Ginebra in the 2010 Fiesta Cup.
Talk `N Text team manager Aboy Castro told Spin.ph that management is now evaluating one by one the possible replacements for Harvey.
“Looking at the videos. Pinag-aaralan pa,” said Castro.
Coach Norman Black, meanwhile, refused to give a time frame for the signing of a new import but said he is in the process of reviewing prospects.
