LUIGI Trillo sees his former team reaching the finals against San Mig Coffee in the PBA Governors Cup finals.

The former Alaska coach, who served an TV analyst for Game Two of the Governors Cup semifinals between the Mixers and the Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters, said he expects a "very interesting series" between the two teams with strong links to coach Tim Cone.

“I think those two, if I to choose,” said Trillo when asked by a handful of mediamen who spoke to him after calling Game Two on Saturday for Sports5 with anchor Magoo Marjon and former player Ali Peek.

“Not taking away from Talk ’N Text and Rain or Shine, both are well-coached. But I see less pressure on Alaska this time, and you see a lot of confidence in the San Mig side.”

A San Mig-Alaska finals should be an intriguing matchup with the Aces, the last team to complete a PBA grand slam in 1996 under Cone, trying to stop the Mixers and Cone from matching the feat.

Trillo, who was fired as head coach of Alaska early in the PBA Governors’ Cup elimination round, said the Aces are playing "without pressure" and with a lot of motivation under Alex Compton since suffering a franchise-worst 51-point beating at the hands of Rain or Shine in the elims.

“I like the way Alaska is playing. There is a lot of redemption in them because they got hammered by Rain or Shine by 51 points. They are playing without pressure and coach Alex Compton has gotten those guys to play well,” Trillo said.

"I’m sure there is a lot of pressure for Rain or Shine after winning by 51 points."

Trillo is also picking San Mig, up 2-0 over Talk 'N Text in the other half of the semifinals, to make the finals, saying the team of former mentor Cone is playing at another level all season.

“San Mig is playing at another level. If they get injured free, just the experience they have, they are in another level,” said Trillo.
