CHRIS Miller may be one of the oldest player to apply for the PBA Season 50 Draft at 32 years old, but at San Miguel, he likes his situation as being one of the youngest.
Only Cjay Perez (32), Jeron Teng (31), JM Calma (29), and fellow rookie Royce Mantua (23) are younger than Miller, and he likes the environment of being surrounded by veteran players in the SMB camp.

“I’m only a rookie because I haven’t played in the PBA, but I am not a rookie. This is my 11th year professionally,” said Miller, who had stints in Iraq, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, and Bosnia, among others.
“So I think it’s really fitting for me to come into a team with veterans because we’re all about the same age. For the first time in a while, I’m not one of the oldest guys. I’m actually one of the youngest guys. So in that case, I’m very open to being a new guy in the PBA, but I’m not a rookie,” said Miller.
Miller also likes the fact he is on the same side as nine-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo, who can attract defenses and open up opportunities for him to take outside shots that has become his specialty over the years.
“He is going to gain a lot of attention. It’s my job when he kicks the ball out to me to hit the shot. This would be probably one of the first times that I'm not looked at as a first option or something like that.
"So I'm kind of happy with being overlooked by the defenses. So I will get a lot of shots. I am looking to get a lot of shots, and hopefully I can make a few,” Miller said.
After playing tune-up games, Miller will finally be seen by a larger audience on Wednesday as San Miguel opens its defense of the Philippine Cup title against NLEX at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.

Having his share of individual awards during his international career, Miller said he wants to win championships for a franchise ithat has collected 30 titles.
“To have a positive role and help us win a championship,” said Miller on his role with the team. “That’s the main goal. Individual accolades, I have a bunch. I have enough already. I just want to bring a championship to San Miguel and add on to their banners."
