    Jan 2, 2013

FIVE teams begin preparations for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup as early as Thursday.

Newly installed Barangay Ginebra head coach Alfrancis Chua will lead the Kings in practice at the Xavier Gym in San Juan although Ginebra’s reinforcement Herbert Hill will not arrive until January 6. Former head coach Siot Tanquingcen has been relegated to assistant coach.

Barako Bull interim coach Bong Ramos and the Energy Cola start training at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong. The Energy Cola are reportedly negotiating with NBA veteran Al Thornton and former ABL player Evan Brock.

Also set to begin training on Thursday are Globalport at the Moro Lorenzo Gym, Air 21 at Gatorade Hoops Center and Petron at the Acropolis Gym.

Petron is set to field former New York Knick Renaldo Balkman as reinforcement, Air 21 is in talks with Michael Dunigan, formerly of the Memphis Grizzlies, while Globalport is finalizing a deal with former Houston Rockets reserve Justin Williams.

Meanwhile, Meralco will return to the gym a little later on January 7. Import Eric Dawson is due to arrive on the 15th.
