IT was fitting that the first Ramon Fernandez PBA Finals MVP ended up in the hands of June Mar Fajardo.
The 36-year-old Fajardo was named by the PBA Press Corps as the best player in the title series which the Beermen won over the TNT Tropang 5G in Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Fajardo finished with a conference-high 29 points and 23 rebounds to emerge as the unanimous choice for the coveted award, which starting this conference was named in honor of the 72-year-old Fernandez.
It's no secret the league's first four-time MVP served as mentor to the 6-foot-11 Fajardo during his younger years back in Cebu City.

Fajardo averaged 19.6 points, 18.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 blocks in the entire series as he won his fifth Finals MVP - now a new PBA record.
He also shot a high 56 percent from the field.
Also considered for the Finals MVP were Rodney Brondial and CJ Perez
Brondial had a second straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Perez finished with 16 points including 11 in the second period.
