FOR the first time in nine months, Greg Slaughter finally sat beside his teammates on the bench - not wearing civilian clothes in full battle gear.

Back on the active roster since recovering from an ACL injury suffered late last season, the 6-11 slotman was thrilled to wear Ginebra's red and white once again in the team's 96-85 win over GlobalPort in the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs.

“(Feeling) good! Just to be on court with my teammates, be back on the bench. That was really an exciting time. I can’t wait to play again,” said Slaughter.

The fit-again slotman said there is still no actual time table for his return, but hinted that fans are going to see him back in action sooner than most of them expect.

“We’ll leave that as a surprise. I feel pretty ready now. We’ll see what happens,” Slaughter said.

“I feel very confident in it. I was able to practice even before I got injured again with Justin (Brownlee) on the team and that’s when were just starting it off. I’m very confident on my return and I’m just excited to get back there with the guys,” he added.

Slaughter’s impending return will give Ginebra its old towering frontline back as Slaughter reunites with Japeth Aguilar, who has been playing splendid basketball since Slaughter went down.

Slaughter can't wait to reconnect with his old frontline partner.

“I can’t wait to get back there and help him (Japeth) out, get back to our synergy where we’re helping each other out. Just two really dominant bigs out there together.”
