TREVIS Jackson became the first player to make himself available for the PBA Rookie Draft after submitting his application on Wednesday.

The Sacramento State product applied for the draft after playing for Gamboa Coffee Mix and Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League last year.

The 23-year-old Fil-American also saw action for the Philippines in the Fiba 3x3 Shanghai tournament under the Manila Gilas banner last month.

The 5-9 Jackson is seen as a potential first-rounder owing to his sterling play in the D-League Foundation Cup, where he averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 steals while leading the Engineers to a semifinal finish.

Jackson’s agent Matthew Manotoc said his player is so focused on applying for the draft that he personally took care of his papers.

“D-League is a pit stop towards the PBA so why not apply early. He’s responsible with his paperwork which is rare for a player,” said Manotoc.

Manotoc said Jackson will be training in the US and will return to work out with several teams.

“He’s established himself as the best Filipino player outside of college basketball and the PBA,” said Manotoc.
