CALASIAO, Pangasinan — Six former Far Eastern University standouts playing at the same time in the PBA All-Star Game served as the highlight of the match between the Juniors and the Rookies/Sophomores on Friday night.
Mac Belo, RR Pogoy, Mike Tolomia, Russel Escoto, and Carl Bryan Cruz started in the second half for the Juniors. Another FEU alum, Raymar Jose, was also on the floor at that time for the Rookies/Sophomores, who later won, 141-140.
All six were handled by Nash Racela with Belo, Pogoy, Tolomia, Escoto, and Jose part of the 2015 (Season 78) FEU Tamaraws championship squad.
Belo said they are happy with the experience of playing together once again.
“Sobrang saya kasi last time na magkasama pa kami, 2014 with Bryan Cruz. Matagal din bago kami nagkasama tapos dito pa sa PBA All-Stars. Nakakataba ng puso,” said Belo.
Belo said Juniors coach Topex Robinson didn’t inform them about the plan to field the FEU players at the same time until halftime.
“Sa dugout, biglaan. Sabi ni coach, sige start ng third, FEU boys ang mag-start. Masaya kasi hanggang ngayon, natatandaan pa namin ‘yung mga plays namin na tinatakbo,” said Belo.
Belo said the All-Star Game was a reminder of the hardwork the six of them have put in order to reach the PBA.
“Masaya kasi siyempre, sa hardwork sa FEU, nasuklian na nandito na kami ngayon sa PBA,” said the Blackwater cager.
