ANTIPOLO – San Miguel Corp. completed a sweep of all three conference titles in the PBA’s 43rd season following Magnolia’s conquest of the Governors’ Cup.
The Hotshots ruled the season-ending conference by beating Alaska in six games, completing the title run with a 102-86 win over the Aces in Game Six.
The win gave SMC the final jewel of the league this season following the victory of San Miguel in the Philippine Cup and Barangay Ginebra in the Commissioner’s Cup.
The Beermen beat the Hotshots during the Philippine Cup title showdown, while the Kings defeated the Beermen in the finals of the Commissioner’s Cup.
Now, it’s the turn of the Hotshots.
SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua declared mission accomplished for the food and beverage giant, thanking Magnolia’s fans for sticking it out with the team since its last championships in 2014.
“Matagal ninyo itong hinihintay,” Chua told the fans during the awarding ceremony. “Alam ko may point na nagalit kayo pero champion na tayo uli.”
“Kasama natin Magnolia, hinihintay natin mag-champion, nag-champion na. We are so happy… First conference, nag-champion ang San Miguel. Second conference, nag-champion ang Ginebra. Third conference, nag-champion ang Magnolia,” said Chua.
