REGARDLESS of where San Miguel ended in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs, June Mar Fajardo is the least concerned.
"Pareho lang. Kailangan lang namin manalo ng dalawang beses. Tinitignan na lang namin yung positive side," said the five-time PBA MVP.
The Beermen missed a chance to secure a spot in the two best-of-three quarterfinals after losing to Meralco, 95-91, on Wednesday despite Fajardo's 27-point, 13-rebound performance.
That sent San Miguel tumbling to a 5-6 [win-loss] record and, after TNT's win over Magnolia later in the day, a quarterfinal showdown against second seed and twice-to-beat NorthPort.
Still, Fajardo said it's not too late to salvage SMB's quest for a grand slam.
"Nakakapanghinayang. Malaki yung kaibahan ng best-of-three sa twice-to-win disadvantage. Pero tapos na yun, wala nang excuse. Di pa naman huli ang lahat. Basta maglaro lang kami ng maayos," he said.
If San Miguel is to survive, the Beermen will have to regain their peak form - and fast, he said.
"Kahit sino. Wala kaming right mamili. Basta gagalingan na lang namin. Kahit sino ang makalaban namin, ibibigay namin ang best namin. Kailangan namin pag-igihan," said the Cebuano giant.
"Di pa naman kami out. Good thing na nasa playoffs pa kami at di pa kami laglag. Mataas naman yung kumpyansa namin. Kaya naman namin, tiwala lang sa team, at tiwala lang sa sistema. Positive lang."
