TWO scuffles in two PBA tune-up games in one day.
Must be the weather.
On Tuesday, a fight between June Mar Fajardo and Jondan Salvador halted the tune-up match between the San Miguel Beermen and the GlobalPort Batang Pier at the Acropolis gym in Libis, Quezon City.
The fight, which witnesses said was sparked by the extreme physicality of the match, came just hours after Meralco's Danny Ildefonso and Alaska import Bill Walker scuffled in another tune-up match at the Meralco gym.
Contacted for comment, Salvador told Spin.ph it was the 6-10 Fajardo who went after him first.
“Palusob na siya sa akin eh, nanlilisik ang mata niya. Kaya inunahan ko lang,” said the wide-bodied GlobalPort enforcer. “Alam ko naman na bibirahin niya ako eh. Kasi naka clenched fist na siya, ano pa nga ba ang gagawin niya sa akin.
“Saka wala akong balak saktan si June Mar, itutulak ko lang siya.”
Salvador claimed another San Miguel Beerman, Arwind Santos, blindsided him with a hit at the back of his head while he was confronting Fajardo.
“Nagkakagulo na 'nun, tapos bigla akong binira sa blind side ni Arwind. Kaya lalong nagkagulo,” said the former College of St. Benilde star. “Siguro dala na rin ng emosyon ang lahat, pero ang hindi ko maintindihan bakit kailangan pang makisawsaw ni Arwind. Hindi siya (Santos) aawat. Bumira siya.”
The 33-year-old Paranaque native admitted he was physical in his defense against Fajardo, who he claimed responded by dishing off a couple of cheap shots.
“Sinisiko na niya ko, kaya siyempre lalo ko siyang pinipisikal,” said Salvador of Fajardo.
Asked why somebody so meek like Fajardo would initiate a fistfight, Salvador replied: “Hindi lahat ng mababait, mabait talaga. May iba may tinatagong kulo sa loob.”
As a result, the match was called off in the fourth quarter with San Miguel leading by 16 points, 97-81, with still four minutes remaining.
Salvador said he is ready to face Commissioner Chito Salud in case he is summoned.
Spin.ph tried to contact both Santos and Fajardo but both were not answering calls at posting time.
