IF San Miguel bigman June Mar Fajardo makes basketball look easy, doing a TV commercial is the exact opposite for him.
The three-time PBA MVP looked a natural in the 30-second reprise to the hit San Miguel Beer commercial 'Sabado Nights' with comedian Vic Sotto, Marc Pingris and 90s sex goddess Ina Raymundo.
But the soft-spoken giant from Pinamungajan, Cebu was quick to dismiss the notion that acting for him is as easy as basketball.
“Anong natural? Ang tagal nga namin natapos doon sa taping dahil sa akin,” Fajardo told SPIN.ph with a laugh. “Nakakahiya nga kay Bossing. Buti si Bossing pasensyoso."
While Sotto was serious during takes, Fajardo bared he and Gilas Pilipinas teammate Pingris, who happens to be Bossing's son-in-law, couldn't help but burst into laughter during takes, delaying the shoot.
“Isang araw kami inabot (sa taping), may mga ilang sets na sobrang tagal natapos kasi hindi ako sanay, sobrang bilis kong matawa,” shared Fajardo.
“May mga seryoso na eksena tapos bigla akong tatawa, halos lahat natatawa ako,” he added.
In real life, Fajardo isn't too fond of night outs, even on Sabado nights. He is known more for his fondness for video games, Dota (Defense of the Ancients) being his favorite.
Fajardo looked convincing in his role as someone with a crush on Raymundo, even if he later admitted that he had no idea about the original 'Sabado Nights' commercial that propelled the latter into stardom.
“Hindi ko kilala si Ina noon kasi dati wala naman TV sa amin, naririnig ko lang siya dati,” he said.
The TVC was already Fajardo’s fourth with Sotto and Pingris. The first came in 2014 when Fajardo had to stop a taxi cab just so Pingris, Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio could get beer to Sotto.
In another commercial that came out in 2015, Fajardo, Pingris, Arwind Santos and Marcio Lassiter were rescued by Sotto in a basketball game against five foreign players.
The Bossing-June Mar-Ping triumvirate kicked off 2016 with another SMB commercial when Sotto had to battle a foreigner in an arm wrestling contest for a table in a crowded bar.
While he enjoyed the shoot, Fajardo admitted acting is not his cup of tea.
“Masaya, masaya ang experience, nakakatuwa kasi nakasama ko ulit sila Bossing at Ping (sa commercial)," the PBA star said, "pero mahirap maging artista, basketball na lang.”
