AFTER all that's been said and done, June Mar Fajardo doesn't hold any grudge against Calvin Abueva.
For someone who squared off with the enigmatic forward in a highly physical battle through five games in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, Fajardo knows Abueva's antics are just part of his game.
"Wala kaming problema ni Calvin. Mataas yung respeto ko sa kanya," said the five-time MVP inside the San Miguel dugout at the Astrodome following the Beermen's 105-94 closeout win on Thursday night.
"Ganoon talaga ang laro niya sa loob ng court, mapang-asar."
Abueva was whisteld for an unsportsmanlike foul late in Game 5 following a hit on Fajardo and the outcome of the game already beyond doubt, 101-94.
Fajardo just shrugged off the latest incident with Abueva.
"Magkasabay kami sa Draft, ilang years na rin kaming magkalaban, so alam ko yung laro niya," said Fajardo, who had 17 points and 16 rebounds.
"Paglabas naman ng court, sobrang close kami. Ilang years kaming magkasama sa Gilas, so alam ko yung attiude niya. Sobrang taas ng respeto ko sa kanya."
Abueva wasn't his usual self though in Phoenix's final game of the conference, held to just a single point on 0-for-7 shooting from the field.
Fajardo could only heave a sigh of relief that the series was over with San Miguel advancing to the All-Filipino finals for the fifth straight season.
"Isa ito sa series na nasubukan ang pasensiya ko," he admitted. "Good thing na-end na yung series at kami ang pumasok sa finals."
