SAN Miguel big man June Mar Fajardo won the Best Player of the Conference award in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, his second this season and the seventh of his career.
The 6-10 Cebuano beat Alaska's Vic Manuel in all the categories - statistics and media, players and PBA votes - to run away with the award, which gave him two more BPC trophies than mentor Danny Ildefonso.
The four-time MVP received the award before Game Four of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals where he is an integral part of SMB's quest for a second title this season.
Fajardo scored 1,153 points after accumulating statistical points, 471 points from media votes, 86 points from player votes, and 150 points from PBA Commissioner’s Office votes.
Manuel, who rode a career resurgence Aces this conference, came in second with 766 points behind 404 statistical points, 235 media votes, 52 player votes, and 75 PBA Commissioner’s Office votes.
Stanley Pringle of GlobalPort placed third with 545 points (410 statistical points, 77 media votes, 33 player votes, 25 PBA Commissioner’s Office votes), while teammate Sean Anthony took fourth with 384 points (383 statistical points, 77 media votes, 33 player votes, 25 PBA Commissioner’s Office votes).
Chris Newsome of Meralco rounded out the Top Five with 360 points (357 statistical points, 2 media votes, 1 player votes).
