MARGE Cadiz is hardly worried that Ginebra is down in the PBA Governors’ Cup Final series against Meralco, which, if the trend continues, wouldn’t grant her wish of a championship in her video that recently went viral.
The 26-year-old overnight Facebook sensation, known as Maria Gracia Gonzales on her video of her version of Gary Granada’s Sana Manalo ang Ginebra, is simply overwhelmed by all the love she has received after posting her video.
“Actually hindi ako kinakabahan,” Cadiz insisted after paying a visit at Ginebra practice on Thursday. “Nagpa-palpitate ako, ang lakas ng kabog ng dibdib ko, pero hindi siya yung kaba na takot. Overwhelmed (yung feeling).”
Cadiz is not concerned about possible “jinxing” the Gin Kings after making the video mid-series.
“No. Paano naman siya maji-jinx kasi kung ako tatanungin mo, the first song was about Game Two,” Cadiz said. “So nung pinanood ko yung laro, dun lang naman ako kumuha ng lyrics eh, so it’s not about the championship, although nagpe-pray ako, hopeful as a Ginebra fan na mag-champion sila.”
In fact, she has already made a new video about the Gin Kings’ Game Three loss.
“Kung makikita niyo yung next song na pinost ko, it’s about their game yesterday,” Cadiz said “Hindi ako naniniwala sa jinx eh. It’s all blessings, katulad ng nangyari sa akin.”
Indeed, she has been blessed with fame and saw her idols in person for the first time.
“Sabi ko nga sa pinsan ko na, ‘Paki sampal mo nga ako,’ kasi hindi ko talaga expected na ma-meet ko sila tapos hindi ko alam na pupunta ako ngayon dito, so nakakatuwa,” Cadiz said after she was brought to practice at Upper Deck gym by staff of World Balance, the Gin Kings’ official outfitter.
She’ll also get a chance to watch the Gin Kings live in Game Four on Wednesday.
“Bukas manonood na ako,” she said with a smile.
