THE frustration has obviously mounted for coach Yeng Guiao.
With nothing going for NLEX in its do-or-die game against Alaska in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday night, the Road Warriors found themselves at the receiving end of their coach's infamous rant at the Mall of Asia Arena.
One incident caught on video by Sports5 had Kenneth Ighalo and big man John Paul Erram bearing the brunt of a fuming Guiao's tirade early in the second quarter with the Aces starting to pull away, 33-22.
Guiao first turned his ire to Ighalo, who apparently knew he’ll be hearing it from his coach that he avoided looking him in the eye.
“Tumingin ka sa akin,” hollered Guiao to the 30-year-old wingman out of Mapua.
Ighalo, apparently, caught his coach's ire after failing to put up a shot with the clock winding down.
“Ta&%# mo! Two seconds anong gagawin mo?” asked the NLEX mentor.
The Team Pilipinas coach then turned his fury at Erram, who he said doesn't have the upper body to withstand the banging in the league.
“Magpalakas ka ng katawan. Ang dali mong itulak,” said Guiao to the 6-foot-8 Erram, the prized acquisition of NLEX during the off-season.
“Nawawala ka sa balance, wala yung tira mo pag naitulak ka na.”
Ironically, Ighalo and Erram were two of the better performers for NLEX in the 88-80 loss that knocked the team out of the playoffs.
Ighalo led the Road Warriors in scoring with 16 points and had nine rebounds while Erram finished with a doubt-double of 10 points and 19 rebounds.
