ANTIPOLO – Josh Reyes was no longer surprised his dad and TNT head coach Chot Reyes was ejected as the upset ax fell on the Tropang 5G opposite Titan Ultra in the PBA Governors’ Cup, Wednesday night at the Ynares Center.
“Hindi. Parati naman emotions high yun, e,” said the Tropang 5G lead deputy.
The elder Reyes left the venue shortly after addressing the team at the dugout as he became the second head coach to be thrown out this conference after Barangay Ginebra’s Tim Cone.

But it’s understandable if frustrations got the better of the only seven-time Coach of the Year that led to his banishment from the game with 9:29 left and the defending champions down by 20 points.
The younger Reyes said the Giant Risers took advantage of the Tropang 5G’s depleted lineup by playing a fast game and scoring on a lot of fast break points.
‘They took advantage of their quickness and they got a lot of fast break points,” Reyes noted, adding Titan already had 19 points off the transition in the first half alone.
“And it just snowballed from there.”
The TNT deputy refused to make the injuries to the team’s major players for absorbing its first loss in two outings.
The Tropang 5G played without Calvin Oftana, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Jayson Castro, Poy Erram, and Kelly Williams for the second straight game.
“it’s easy to have that for an excuse, that we’re not complete, that we’re not in shape yet,” said Josh.
But he admitted the wear and tear of the game has took its toll on the team.
“We’ve been going on without break for five conferences,” Josh said, obviously referring to the five straight finals appearances of the Tropang 5G dating back to Season 49.
“So the challenge was how we get up, every day practice and still get better. That we still have that eagerness and hunger to make ourselves better every day despite going through five or six conferences already.”
