WITH all hope lost, NLEX gears toward the season-ending 2018 PBA Governors' Cup as it brings in Olu Ashaolu for its final game this conference.
A team insider bared that Ashaolu, 30, will make his debut for the Road Warriors on July 4 in their game against Magnolia this 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
"This is in preparation for the third conference," said the source as the former Louisiana Tech and Oregon standout is poised to stay until the Governors' Cup.
Assistant team manager Mon Celis confirmed the development.
The Nigerian-Canadian Ashaolu comes in lieu of Arnett Moultrie, who averaged 29.9 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in his nine games for NLEX but failed to lead the team to the playoffs.
The former Philadelphia 76er center, though, will remain with the squad with coach Yeng Guiao utilizing him to help the squad prepare for a better showing in the third conference.
Ashaolu has had stints before in Spain and France before finding his way to the Japanese B.League. His last stint with the Sendai 87ers saw him average 18.5 points and 7.6 rebounds before falling to a knee injury.
