DESPITE missing two crucial attempts late in the game, Gary David wasn't about to stop shooting.
So the next time the misfiring Globalport star got the ball with the game on the line, David never hesitated for one moment as he launched the three-pointer that proved the game-winner in Batang Pier's 91-88 win over Alaska Milk on Friday night at the Big Dome.
David, who is coming off a stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba-Asia men’s championships, thanked Globalport coach Junel Baculi for keeping faith in him after going just 3-of-10 from the field before the game-winning shot.
"Gary just has to forget the bad shots and move on to the next shot. And that's Gary. He's a scorer," Baculi said.
David proved him right.
Getting the hand-off from Mercado at the right wing, the league's former scoring champion pulled up without hesitation as the clock went down to its final nine seconds.
That David’s game-saving shot came just two days after he was once rumored to be on the trading block made things even sweeter for the national team mainstay.
“Siyempre maganda yung pakiramdam, masaya ako, bonus pa yung maipanalo ko,” beamed the 35-year-old Globalport star.
