RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao probably missed getting ejected that he tested the limit of the referees again in the team’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup game against Mahindra on Wednesday.
The fiery mentor was thrown out for the first time in the league this season after picking up two successive technical fouls with one minute and 33 seconds left in the second quarter over a questionable offensive foul called on Maverick Ahanmisi.
Guiao had choice words against the referees and showed his middle finger to the officials before heading out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum floor.
Not even the E-Painters scoring a 103-98 victory prevented Guiao from lamenting on the officiating.
“I was upset late in the (first) half because I felt there was just one bad call after another,” the outspoken mentor said.
“I felt that we were losing our momentum with the calls that were being made,” he added. “We had an eleven-point lead at that point and we just lost it in two or three minutes.”
The E-Painters established a 48-37 lead, but the Enforcers finished the first half with an 11-1 run to pull to within one at the break.
“It’s a little bit confusing making an adjustment to the referees’ calls,” Guiao said.
Fortunately, the E-Painters escaped with their third straight win.
For the perennial-crusading Guiao, it’s probably on to the next ejection.
“Pagkatapos nito dine-delete ko na (ang alaala) eh,” he said with a smile. “Naka-delete na yan eh. hindi na maalala (kung kailan last na-eject).”
