OSAKA – TNT rookie Jared Brown is scheduled to arrive in the Philippines this week and try his luck with the team that went out of its way to select him in the last PBA Draft.
PBA Board chairman Ricky Vargas said the 5-foot-10 Brown has already talked to the team and will join the Tropang Giga in practice upon arrival in Manila.
“He has reached out to the team and kept in touch. He’ll be arriving in the country this week and attend practices,” said Vargas.
Brown was the first pick of TNT in the last draft, selected in the third round (No. 31 overall). He, however, was not present during the rookie selection event itself.

To his understanding, the Tropang Giga governor said the coaching staff headed by Chot Reyes will see how Brown fares during practice in the span of a week and then go from there to determine whether or not he’ll got a roster spot.
“I think that was the agreement. It will be sort of like a tryout for him,” said Vargas.
Brown failed to join TNT in its current training camp in Cebu which ends Sunday.
Still, the PBA chairman added he’s been hearing a lot about how good a player Brown is, especially during his brief stint with Ateneo last season when he averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 rebounds, as the Blue Eagles reached the UAAP Final Four, but failed to defend their men’s basketball title.
