THE deadline for the filing of PBA rookie draft applications on Friday suddenly became interesting as talk flew that reigning UAAP MVP Terrence Romeo has decided to put his name on the list at the last minute.

Sources from the Far Eastern University camp bared that the flamboyant Tamaraws star has opted to join the draft amid interest from a team which is in a position to draft him.

However, the information cannot be immediately verified, and even his agent, Ed Ponceja, said he has no idea what the popular college basketball star will do next.

“Kinokontak ko pero hindi ko mahagilap … siguro abangan na lang natin kung sisipot siya sa PBA office ngayong araw,” Ponceja said.

Romeo is one of most talented players in the collegiate leagues today, boosting his stature after averaging 21.67 points, 6.07 rebounds, 4.13 assists and 1.60 steals with the Tamaraws last season.

The flamboyant 5-11 guard had previously told that he plans to stay another year to complete an 'unfinished business' with the Tamaraws, who bowed out at the Final Four stage last season.

However, FEU insiders said Romeo had a change of heart after former teammate RR Garcia decided to cut short his commitment with the Gilas cadet pool and join the draft on Wednesday.

The FEU stars aren't exactly in the best of terms, and the two joining the draft at the same time decreases the probability that they may end up in the same team again.

    But here's the catch.

If both Garcia and Romeo are available the draft, Barako Bull team manager Raffy Casyao bared that the team will not hesitate to grab the popular FEU tandem.

The George Chua-owned franchise has the fourth and fifth picks in the first round of the November 3 draft at Robinsons Place in Manila - and the sixth overall as well if a trade with Globalport isn't finalized.

“Kung makukuha namin, why not? We are in need of a guard and a scorer … Sakto yung dalawa dun. We will carefully evaluate our picks once the list has been released,” said the amiable team boss.
