FITTINGLY, the battle for the Bobby Parks Best Import award has narrowed down to the two remaining reinforcements currently battling each other out in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals – Rob Dozier of Alaska and Barangay Ginebra’s Vernon Macklin.

And so far, the 27-year-old Dozier holds a slight edge over the 6-foot-10 fan-favorite Macklin.

The Alaska import out of University of Memphis has a total average of 47.5 statistical points as compared to the 46.0 statistical points of Macklin, a product of University of Florida.

Both Dozier and Macklin finished second and third, respectively, behind Meralco’s Eric Dawson, who topped the statistical points race with a 53.9 average.

But with the Bolts failing to get past the quarterfinals, the race has become a two-way battle between Macklin and Dozier.

Dozier has been with the Aces from the very start of the conference and gave a good account of himself in Game One of the Finals Wednesday when he finished with 14 points, 22 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks in 43 minutes of play in an 87-70 rout of the Kings.

Macklin, on the other hand, came in as replacement for Herbert Hill, but rallied the Kings from a 0-4 start to make the best-of-five title series.

But he had a rough start to his first-ever league Finals appearance after finishing with just 16 points on only nine attempts from the field and 14 rebounds.

The Bobby Parks Best Import award will be given on Sunday just before the start of Game Three at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
