IT was a shot at history big man Doug Kramer just couldn’t simply pass up.
The 6-foot-5 center had to skip the wedding of his sibling for him to be able to suit up in GlobalPort’s sudden-death game with Barangay Ginebra Sunday in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.
Kramer battled Greg Slaughter in the middle and finished with three points and eight rebounds in playing a key role in the Batang Pier’s hard-earned 84-83 overtime win that clinched for the franchise a first-ever stint in the semis.
“It’s all worth it,” said Kramer briefly after the game as he quickly excused himself from the team celebration inside the dugout to hopefully catch the tailend of his sibling's wedding.
‘Baka maabutan ko pa yung reception and photo ops,” he added.

Coach Pido Jarencio said he was grateful for the sacrifice put in by his starting center for the sake of the team despite an important affair within the family.
“Hindi siya dapat maglalaro kasi ikakasal ‘yung kapatid niya. Kaya kinausap namin siya talaga. Nag-sacrifice siya,” said Jarencio.
“Once in a lifetime lang ang kasal and he’s (Doug) the eldest, kaya siya 'yung tinitingnan ng mga siblings niya,” added the Globalport mentor. “Kaya credit him for the sacrifice.”
