HIS stats may not show it, but Doug Kramer had the biggest impact in Phoenix's 97-87 win over NorthPort on Wednesday.
How, you ask?
Well, the 35-year-old Fuel Masters bruiser dedicated every second of his near-13 minutes on the floor in the PBA Commissioner's Cup game trying to frustrate Batang Pier reinforcement Prince Ibeh.
"He's a big guy eh. Natamaan niya ako sa gilid, na-blindside niya ako, so I figured I try to get in his head. The best way I could defend him is to get in his head first," said Kramer, who constantly engaged the former Texas Longhorn in trash talk.
Ibeh had to work for his 12 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, and two blocked shots. Kramer also got the import to commit his sixth foul on a rebound play with 3:19 left and the Batang Pier mounting a comeback, 84-78.
"I got him out. I wanted him to get his sixth foul so I did my job," said a smiling Kramer, who went scoreless but grabbed four boards in the win.
Still, what mattered more for Kramer was Phoenix getting the win that boosted the team's quest for a place in the playoffs.
"Every game now is a must win for us. That's the most important thing, getting this win," he said.
