The PBA Stalwarts nailed four three-pointers, capped by Ronjay Buenafe’s top-of-the-key triple in the dying seconds, to forge a 136-all standoff with the PBA Greats in the PBA All-Star Week side show on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Greats actually had a chance to escape with the win, but Willie Miller’s tough fadeaway jumper off Macmac Cardona fell short and Cliff Hodge's follow-up try missed as the ball slipped from his hands at the buzzer.
The game was marked by numerous exchange of dunks, most of which came from this year’s newly crowned Slam Dunk co-champions Rey Guevarra and Justin Melton.
Guevarra led the Greats with 34 points, mostly on rim-rattling dunks en route to being named the MVP of the game, while Cliff Hodge added 27.
Cardona led the Stalwarts with 31 points, while Buenafe and Melton added 22 and 21, respectively.
