SAN Miguel Beer has provided solid front court support for reigning MVP June Mar Fajardo as the three-way trade that brought JR Reyes to the Beermen camp was approved by the PBA on Tuesday.

Under the terms of the deal first reported by Spin.ph on Monday, the Beermen gave up sophomore Justin Chua and its 2017 first-round pick for the rights to Reyes, a 6-7 banger who along with doug Kramer will now back up Fajardo at the center spot.

After giving up Reyes, Ginebra got banger Dorian Pena as well as a 2015 second-round pick from Barako Bull, who in turn got Chua in the transaction.

Reyes, now in his sixth PBA team since joining the pro league as Welcoat’s (now Rain or Shine) direct-hire player in 2006, is coming off career-low numbers of 3.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in just under nine minutes of action for Ginebra in the recent Philippine Cup.

On the other hand, Pena, now in his 14th PBA season, is coming off an injury-riddled year for Barako Bull last season. The former Coppin State University big man actually missed almost the entire season a year ago after tearing his left Achilles in practice.

The 6-foot-7 Fil-Am managed to play just two games in the season-opening Philippine Cup, averaging just seven minutes and 0.5 rebound in a cameo role for the Energy.
