EVEN Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell got caught up in the ‘Spider-Man’ brouhaha that swept the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup finals.
Mitchell, a one-time Manila visitor, was quick to retweet the video of the incident that marred the Magnolia-San Miguel game Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where a man in a Spider-Man costume – later identified as Paolo Felizarta - disrupted the game late in the fourth quarter.
The sophomore guard commented ‘Real one’ in retweeting the two-minute video shared by Ballislife.com via ESPN5.
Mitchell is nicknamed ‘Spida,’ which was given him by a parent of his former teammate, a moniker that stuck with the one-time NBA slam dunk champion ever since.
The PBA of course, is nothing new to Mitchell. The 22-year-old product of Louisville came over in Manila last year to conduct a basketball camp.
He later on served as one the panelists during a Commissioner’s Cup game between Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia.
Following the unveiling of Mitchell’s first signature shoes with adidas (Adidas D.O.N. issue #1 or Determination Over Negativity) colored in a red and blue spandex as inspired by the costume of the famous Marvel character, the Jazz star went on and sent a pair of his kicks to actor Tom Holland, who played Spider Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
