ONE of Cebu's deadliest gunners is trying his hand at politics.
Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros will seek a council seat in Cebu City's south district in the May 2019 elections, according to the Cebu Daily News.
The 41-year-old, who won an ABL championship with San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas last season, filed his certificate of candidacy on Thursday under the opposition group Barug Team Rama–PDP Laban.
Hontiveros, a registered voter of barangay Labangon, told Cebu Daily News he received offers to join the slate of both Barug and the rival Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) of Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
The PBA veteran explained he opted to join Barug because the opposition group still don’t have a candidate who will focus on sports development.
