DON Trollano scored 21 points and San Miguel returned to its winning ways with a 111-92 rout of Phoenix on Sunday in the PBA 49th Season Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Trollano scored 15 points right in the first half, exactly a week after being held scoreless in a loss to TNT, to set the tone as San Miguel improved to 4-2 (win-loss) and cemented its hold of third place in the leaderboard.
CJ Perez topscored for the Beermen with 26 points, including baskets to douse a late rally and condemned Phoenix to its fourth loss in six games.
Phoenix trailed by as many as 24 points.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria noted how huge the win was to his team, especially after that loss to TNT.
“They were well-motivated to win because of that loss against Talk ‘N Text. There is no other way for us but to win dahil if we lose, we will drop to No. 8. With our win, we are at No. 3 and still on track for the Top Four,” said Austria.

June Mar Fajardo had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Beermen despite sitting out the entire second quarter. It was during that time where SMB pulled away by outscoring Phoenix, 34-21.
Marcio Lassiter also delivered 11 points on 2 of 3 shooting from threes for the Beermen, who were up, 89-65, early in the fourth quarter.
Kai Ballungay had another solid showing by scoring 23 points, and Kenneth Tuffin wound up with 15 points for the Fuelmasters, who were only down by one, 30-29, before that second-quarter turnaround by the Beermen.
