A CASE of back spasms grounded San Miguel guard Don Trollano after the Beermen’s game against Barangay Ginebra in Dubai.
But Trollano was back at full strength on Friday when he starred in the Beermen’s 94-92 win over Magnolia in the PBA 50 Philippine Cup where he scored 29 points, including a crucial four-point shot in the dying seconds.

Trollano said his back started acting up during the nine-hour flight from Manila to Dubai and was not 100 percent during the out-of-the-country game against Barangay Ginebra.
Trollano still played 22 minutes in Dubai and wounded up with seven points and six rebounds, but missed his lone attempts at the three- and four-point area.
His condition got worse on their return to Manila that he needed to sit out San Miguel’s next game against Converge.

“Sobrang sakit nung likod ko kaya hindi ako nakapaglaro last game. Na-manage ng PT namin, day-to-day. Medyo nabawasan naman ‘yung pain kaya nakapaglaro ako,” said Trollano, who was named Player of the Week by the PBA Press Corps.
Trollano helped the Beermen extend their winning streak to four games against Rain or Shine, Barangay Ginebra, Converge, and Magnolia.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria is happy that Trollano willed himself back into action at the soonest possible time while in the middle of the Beermen’s winning streak.
“I think ‘yung pride nila, na-challenge. And if we want to get to the next round, we have to win at least three of our last four games. We are lucky naka-apat kami. ‘Yung sense of urgency nila, nandoon,” said Austria.
After an 0-2 start, the Beermen now hold a share of fourth place with Magnolia and Converge on 4-2 win-loss records.
