DON Trollano has been delivering clutch baskets for San Miguel on a regular basis including the game-winner in Sunday’s 85-82 thriller against Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

And yet the humble wingman from the municipality of Gigmoto in Catanduanes still knows where he stands in the Beermen’s pecking order.

Of course, there’s the high-scoring CJ Perez and veteran Marcio Lassiter ahead of him in the team’s scheme of things.

“Akala ko nga papalitan ako kasi usually si Marcio ang pantapos, e. Siguro tiwala din lang si coach,” said the soft-spoken product of Adamson.

He stayed on and nailed the pressure-packed three that broke the game’s final deadlock and put the Beermen on top for good in the final eight seconds.

Perez could have taken the shot himself after snaring the offensive rebound off a June Mar Fajardo miss.

But he was unselfish enough to give it up to an open Trollano after drawing the defense to him as he tried to drive his way to the basket.

“Nakaka-tsamba ako,” he said of the go-ahead triple.

He was quick to play down this latest heroic.

“Nagkataon lang na ako, dahil iniwan ako,” said Trollano, who was left open after Ginebra big man Troy Rosario tried to sag on the driving Perez.

“Wala na rin akong ibang gagawin kasi shot clock na yun, e,” he said.

Trollano gave credit to Perez for making the play possible, adding it helped him further boost his confidence.

He knew the shot was going in the moment the ball left his hands.

“Alam ko na, nakita ko kasi diretso. Alam ko na sa bitaw ko kung papasok,” he said.

Trollano finished with 12 points and was actually 1-of-5 from three-point range until coming through with that huge basket.

He added five rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
