A source bared to SPIN.ph that Mitchell was actually offered a two-season contract, but opted to sign just a one-year deal.
It was actually the same case with No. 2 overall pick Sedrick Barefield, who was given a three-year contract proposal, but agreed to sign only two years, with a player’s option on the second season.

Mitchell was projected to be a late first round or early second round pick in the last PBA draft, but fell in the third round at No. 26 overall in what Blackwater felt could turn out to be the steal of the draft.
The Fil-Am had a one-and-done season for La Salle, but missed out on the Green Archers’ championship run in Season 86 due to a back injury.
He played for Manila in the MPBL before deciding to apply for the draft.
